The Center for Spoken Language Understanding (CSLU) at the OGI School
of Science and Engineering at OHSU is seeking applicants for the
position of Manager of Language Corpora and Spoken Language System
Evaluation
The key responsibilities of the Manager will include:
* Supervising a team performing linguistic labeling of corpora using
state-of-the-art text and speech processing tools
* Contact with business and academic institutions
* Documenting and reporting of projects
* Be member of a multidisciplinary team working on tools enhancement
We need a person who has:
* Expertise in phonetics
* A broad interest in language and speech science, with emphasis on
speech synthesis and multilingual issues.
* Excellent administrative skills.
* Ability and willingness to learn new tools.
* Excellent written and oral communication, as well as
interpersonal, skills.
* At least a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, with a master's
degree preferred.
CSLU has an international reputation in speech corpora and spoken
language system evaluation. With the rapid expansion of speech
technology business, CSLU is positioning itself to become a major
supplier of sophisticated language and speech corpora for research and
business and of evaluation services. This is an exciting opportunity
for a skilled and highly motivated individual to secure a future for
him- or herself in this growing field.
The Manager will work closely with CSLU faculty, both in the initial
phase when he or she is learning to use our tools, and in later phases
when he or she will contributes to the further development of our
toolset. Income will depend on experience and
qualifications. Excellent benefits are provided.
