Subject: Obituary for Wolfgang.U.Wurzel
Wolfgang U. Wurzel died on the weekend of 4/5 August, just 61.
As was easy to see for discerning phonologists and morphologists wherever,
he wrote the best that was to be had in phonology and morphology in
Germany, following in Hermann Paul's footsteps. That will now be missed
greatly, as will he.
There will be a memorial gathering of his friends and colleagues at the ZAS
in Berlin, where Gustav worked, on Thursday, 16 August, 10 am. See
http://www.zas.gwz-berlin.de/mitarb/wurzel.html
The funeral will be in the small town of Schleiz/Thueringen, where Gustav
came from, on Friday, 24 August, 3 pm. Particulars from Kerstin Schwabe
(schwabe at zas.gwz-berlin.de).
And there will be a conference in his memory in early December, at the time
for which Gustav was planning their annual historical linguistics event,
also at the ZAS. Particulars from Manfred Krifka
(krifka at zas.gwz-berlin.de).
