The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.
Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.
This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

The project we would like to develop for Pashto is our Level I program
that we use as an introductory educational course. This program is
divided into 8 units with 11-12 chapters per unit. Each chapters
consists of 10 quads of text. The text begins with simple words like
boy/girl, and it progresses to phrases such as "The subway stop is
around the corner from the playground". Our English script contains
around 31,015 words. To complete this project, we would need help
from Pashto speakers with a central dialect for three different
purposes.
1.A translator to translate from US English into central Pashto.
2.One male and one female voicer to record the text on a CD-ROM. The
initial recording session will be between 8-10 hours with the
possibility of a follow up.
3.An editor to consult with the FLT Project Manager throughout the
project to evaluate qualifications of the translators and voicers, to
provide editorial review of the translation and the voicing, and to copy
edit the final product.
