CALL FOR PAPERS
ICSLP-2002
7th International Conference on Spoken Language Processing
September 16 - 20, 2002
Adams Mark Hotel and Conference Center
Denver, Colorado
On behalf of the Conference Organizing Committee, it is our distinct
pleasure to invite you to attend the International Conference on
Spoken Language Processing - ICSLP-2002.
The conference will be held in Denver, Colorado and is being organized
by researchers, scientists, and engineers at the Center for Spoken
Language Research, Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences
(University of Colorado Boulder), and the W.G. Voice Center (Denver
Center for the Performing Arts).
ICSLP-2002 is the seventh biennial conference dedicated to the
interdisciplinary study of speech science and language
technology. Since the original meeting in Kobe, Japan in 1990, ICSLP
has enjoyed a variety of exciting venues with the most recent being
Beijing, China (2000).
This year, ICSLP-2002 has sponsorship from ISCA: the International
Speech Communications Association.
For the first time, ICSLP-2002 will offer a full TUTORIALS DAY program
which will take place on September 16, 2002. This day will feature a
series of in-depth tutorials offered by world-class experts in their
fields. We feel this program will help encourage experts in their
discipline to explore the range of topics offered at ICSLP.
SUBMISSION OF PAPERS:
FORMAT FOR SUBMISSIONS Prospective authors are invited to submit
FULL-LENGTH, 4-page papers for presentation in any of the areas listed
below (official language is English). Papers will be submitted
electronically via WWW with electronic reviewer feedback provided for
all submissions. We also encourage the submission of proposals for
tutorials and sessions on special topics. Check the conference
website www.icslp2002.org for up-to-date information.
ICSLP is the premier interdisciplinary conference on speech
processing, speech science, and language technology. As such, we
strongly encourage submissions from all disciplines relating to speech
and spoken language processing. Whether you are a linguist, speech
scientist, speech pathology researcher, hearing scientist, speech
processing engineering or computer scientist, we welcome your
submission.

SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COGNITIVE AND NEURAL SYSTEMS
Tutorials: May 29, 2002
Meeting: May 30 - June 1, 2002
Boston University
http://www.cns.bu.edu/meetings/
This interdisciplinary conference focuses on two fundamental
questions: How Does the Brain Control Behavior? How Can Technology
Emulate Biological Intelligence?
A single oral or poster session enables all presented work to be
highly visible.
Contributed talks will be presented on each of the three conference days.
Three-hour poster sessions with no conflicting events will be held on
two of the conference days. All posters will be up all day, and can
also be viewed during breaks in the talk schedule.

name(s), affiliation(s), mailing, and email address(es) should begin
each Abstract. An accompanying cover letter should include: Full title
of Abstract; corresponding author and presenting author name, address,
telephone, fax, and email address; requested preference for oral or
poster presentation; and a first and second choice from the topics
above, including whether it is biological (B) or technological (T)
work. Example: first choice: vision (T); second choice: neural system
models (B). (Talks will be 15 minutes long. Posters will be up for a
full day. Overhead, slide, VCR, and LCD projector facilities will be
available for talks.) Abstracts which do not meet these requirements
or which are submitted with insufficient funds will be

application should include the applicant's CV, including name; mailing
address; email address; current student status; faculty or PhD
research advisor's name, address, and email address; relevant courses
and other educational data; and a list of research articles. A letter
from the listed faculty or PhD advisor on official institutional
stationery should accompany the application and summarize how the
candidate may benefit from the meeting. Fellowship applicants who
also submit an Abstract need to include the registration fee with
their Abstract submission. Those who are awarded fellowships are
