Computational Linguist: Farsi, Urdu, Arabic. San Diego, CA
Systran Software Inc., a leader in Machine Translation technology
located in San Diego CA, is expanding and developing a new range of MT
technologies. We are seeking a highly qualified and energetic
computational linguist.
This person will be responsible for the development of new language
pairs: Farsi, Urdu and Arabic to English. This person will work with
other computational linguists in the English team, and with
lexicographers and testers. This is an opportunity to work in an
evolving environment.
The primary task is to design morphological analyzers, lexicon and
syntactic grammars, and implement morphological analyzer. Other
responsibilities include: contribute to and supervise the development
of translation dictionaries; Implement analysis and transfer grammars;
Design and supervise testing; Publicize and present project to
customers.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in linguistics, will be
a native speaker of one of the 3 languages involved, and will have a
good understanding of a second one. Other qualifications include
knowledge of computational linguistics, and high level knowledge of
Persian, Arabic and Urdu morphology and syntax. Programming skills are a
plus. Previous experience in computational linguistics is recommended.
