We would like to announce the general availability of
http://semanticsarchive.net
a web site for exchanging papers on natural language semantics and related
topics.
Inspired by the Rutgers Optimality Archive
(http://ruccs.rutgers.edu/roa.html), initial development was funded by the
University of California, San Diego.
Semanticsarchive.net welcomes papers by semanticists from all theoretical
perspectives, and at all levels, from senior researchers to graduate
students. The archive currently contains more than 60 papers by more than
30 different authors, as well as links to semantics resources on the web.
The archive interface emphasizes simplicity in order to make searching,
browsing, uploading, and downloading as easy as possible. Papers are
accepted in a wide variety of file formats.
Our hope is that semanticists will find http://semanticsarchive.net a
useful tool both for making their own papers available in a convenient
location, as well as for locating and obtaining papers by others.
For more information, visit

IS MEANING DYNAMIC?
(CONCEPTUAL FOUNDATIONS OF DYNAMIC SEMANTICS)
Prague International colloquium
organized by the
Department of Logic, Institute of Philosophy
Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
September 11-14 2001, Villa Lanna, V sadech 1, Prague, Czech Republic
The colloquium continues the series of annual international meetings
organized in Prague by the department. The present colloquium will be
devoted to the discussion of the conceptual foundations of dynamic
approaches to natural language semantics, namely discourse
representation theory, dynamic logic, game-theoretical semantics etc.
The invited speakers of the colloquium are Johan van Benthem
(Amsterdam/Stanford), Hans Kamp (Stuttgart) and Gabriel Sandu
(Heslinki).
The conference fee is US$ 80. (Participants not able to pay the fee are
encouraged to negotiate a discount.) The price of accommodation in
Prague available for the participants range from about US$ 15/day
(hostels) to about US$ 150/day (luxurious hotels).
Potential contributors are asked to submit a two page abstract;
the deadline is March 31, 2001. Abstracts are to be submitted by e-mail
(preferably as MS Word files, but other common formats are also
acceptable) prepared for anonymous reviewing. (To prevent problems
caused by e-mail failures, the receipt of every abstract will be
confirmed within one week.) Notification of acceptance will be
distributed by May 31. Contributed papers are scheduled for 40 minutes
including discussion. Please direct your abstracts to:
peregrin at lorien.site.cas.cz.
