We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

I have a friend writing an article for the popular press about the impact of
the Web and the Internet on the English language. Is anyone researching
this question?
Thanks.

Hello Linguists,
I am writing a dissertation on punctuation. I am studying it
diachronically, from 1968 until the present, looking at the
changes. I am looking for other diachronic studies of Mod.E
punctuation use for comparison and reference. I can find NONE. Am I
alone in my interest?
I will, of course, try to summarize any responses.
David Sherriff
