                  University Job Opening / Visiting Lecturer

Kyushu University, a Japanese national university, is seeking a
qualified native English speaker for the position of visiting lecturer
in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL), beginning October 1,
2001.

The ideal candidate should be 39 years old or younger and possess a
Ph.D. degree in either TEFL/TESOL, English Language and Literature,
Communication/Speech studies, Cultural studies or other related areas
with a few years of teaching experience.  However, candidates
possessing only an M.A. degree but with a strong teaching background
will also be considered.

Responsibilities:  Teach seven weekly English classes (90 minutes each)
per semester (primarily first- and second-year students), maintain
office hours, and act as a staff informant.

Salary:  Ranging from approximately 5,460,000 yen to 6,980,000 yen
annually depending on age and experience.

Contract:  Two years with a possible extension of one year maximum.

Benefits:  Full travel expenses and baggage allowance (self and
family), research budget, a fully furnished residence for 33,600 yen
monthly

list of publications, two samples of their written work, a cassette
tape-recorded self-introduction, and a written professional
self-introduction of 500 words or less.  Applicants should also
include two references.  Selection will be made on a competitive
basis.  Announcement of appointment will be made by April 30, 2001.
