Assistant Professorship at ILLC

The `Computational and Applied Logic' group of the Institute for
Logic, Language and Computation invites applications for a fulltime
assistant professor.

Candidates should hold a PhD in computer science, and have a strong
background in the use of statistical methods, experimental research,
and evaluating algorithms and systems in one or more of the following
areas: information retrieval, natural language processing,
computational logic.

Candidates are expected to teach courses from the `Computational and
Applied Logic' group's teaching programme.  In addition, candidates
will be involved in managing research projects that involving academic
and/or industrial partners.  Candidates will also be expected to
participate in the supervision of Master and PhD students.

This is a four-year position, with the possibility of tenure after
four years.  The maximum salary is 9456 Dutch Guilders, gross per
month.

The `Computaional and Applied Logic' group's research interests range
from automated reasoning, constraint programming, satisfiability
checking, and formal verification to digital libraries, information
retrieval, computational linguistics, and knowledge engineering.  The
group is strongly internationally oriented, and currently consists of
15 people; it is expected to grow substantially over the next year.

With its focus on experimental and applied research, the
`Computational and Applied Logic' group is an essential and attractive
ingredient of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
programmes at the University of Amsterdam.
