Subject: metaphors in non-human languages
Dear Linguists,
I am interested in metaphors, and wondering if there are any in
non-human languages (let's say animal languages for instance) ? Any
suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks,
Best,

Subject: Source for phonetic inventory of Russian
We are conducting an investigation of the acoustic and phonetic
specifications of vowels across several different languages including
English, Japanese, German and French. We would like to include Russian
as one of the languages in our study. Can anyone recommend a source or
sources for finding out the phonetic inventory of Russian, common
allophonic variations of Russian vowels, dialectal differences among
Russian spoken in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Central Russia, and
phonotactic rules for palatalization.
Please respond either to:
me, James Jenkins, e-mail J3cube at AOL.com
or Valeriy Shafiro. e-mail Vshafiro at GC.CUNY.EDU
Thanks very much,
James J. Jenkins
