Responsible for translating, proofing, and editing translations of new
features, promotions, graphics, user interface elements, and other
site content. Also carries out other language-specific dutes.
As part of the localization team within product development, works
with developers, engineers, and project management to ship eBay's
international sites on time and with high linguistic quality. You
will play a crucial role in our effort to create a global
marketplace.
Works with product marketing and content managers/editors to establish
and protect the tone and style of the translations. Works with
quality assurance to ensure localization issues are addressed before
shipping live to site. Works with other translators, in-country
marketing, content specialists and project management to coordinate
translation efforts. Must be able to take initiative and be flexible
to help deliver translations quickly in our dynamic environment.
Will also be closely involved with:
- developing terminology used on the site
- researching commercially available software and specifying
requirements for the development of internal tools to help in the
translation process
- contributing to the definition and establishment of the localization
process
Skills required:
-Native fluence in Dutch and deep understanding of Dutch culture is
essential, knowledge of the internet culture especially helpful
- Proven track record of translating for the consumer market
- Familiarity with translation technologies and production processes
- Working knowledge of HTML strongly desired, experience with software
localization and code issues helpful
- Understanding of product development life cycle in a software
environment is helpful.
