The Academic Program in Linguistics at the University of Minnesota--Twin
Cities seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor/Instructor for the
2001-02 academic year. This temporary appointment (T) will be 100% for
the nine-month period of August 27, 2001 through May 26, 2002 with a
salary that is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The person should have a specialization in phonology and will be
expected to teach undergraduate and graduate classes, including
Introduction to Phonetics, Introduction to Phonology, and two or three
courses to be selected from Language and Society, Introduction to
Linguistics, Historical Linguistics, Computational Linguistics. Other
responsibilities include providing service to the department, College,
and University.  Qualifications include a preference for a Ph.D. in
Linguistics by date of appointment, but candidates who are A.B.D. will
be considered.  Candidates must have at least one year of experience
teaching in linguistics.  Experience teaching Phonetics and Phonology
is preferred.

The deadline for receipt of letter of application is July 16, 2001.
