The IEEE Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence is envisioned to
foster the creation and transfer of ideas relating to artificial intelligence
among academics, industry, and government agencies. It focuses on methodologies
that can add the development of AI, as well as the demanding issues involved
in turning these methodologies into practical tools. Thus, this conference
encompasses the technical aspects of specifying, developing, and evaluating
theoretical and applied mechanisms that can serve as tools for developing
intelligent systems and pursuig artificial intelligence applications.

Submission Guidelines:
======================
Authors are requested to submit a double-spaced manuscript in electronic
form (pdf or postscript) to the Program Chair (moldovan at engr.smu.edu).
The manuscript should be in English, maximum 20 pages, including an abstract
and a list of subject areas. The submission deadline is June 15, 2001.
Each submission must report an unpublished original work and be accompanied
by a cover letter that indicates the contact authors and appropriate subject
areas that the paper can be classified under.
Authors will be notified of acceptance by July 10, 2001 and will be given
instructions for camera-ready versions of their papers at that time.
Outstanding papers will be eligible for publication in the International
Journal on Artificial Intelligence Tools and for receiving the C. V.
Ramamoorthy Best Paper award.
Panel organizers are requested to submit a panel proposal consisting of a
position statement and a list of panelists to the program chair by June 5,
2001. Panel organizers will be notified of acceptance by by June 30, 2001.

CALL FOR PAPERS
TABU-Day: one-day conference on general linguistics

University of Groningen
TABU-Day is an annual one-day conference on general linguistics,
organised by the University of Groningen. The conference languages are
Dutch and English. TABU-Day 2001 will be held on Friday, June 22, at
the following location
Harmonie Building,
Oude Kijk in 't Jatstraat 26,
Groningen, The Netherlands
This year's keynote lectures will be given by Prof. Keith Johnson,
Associate Professor of Linguistics at the Linguistics Department, Ohio
State University, and Prof. Henk Verkuyl, Professor of the Linguistics
Section of the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics OTS.
Abstracts are invited, for presentations in all aspects of linguistics.
The presentations are 20 minutes in length followed by 5 minutes of
discussion. The abstract deadline is May 25, 2001. In principle,
TABU-Day accepts all submissions.
Abstracts should not exceed 400 words and can be in either Dutch or
English. An abstract should contain the title of the paper, the author's
name, address, affiliation, e-mail address, and phone number, the abstract
text, and any requirements for special equipment. Authors should submit
abstracts via e-mail as a plain ASCII file. If e-mail submission is not
possible, please contact the organisers.

( http://www.let.rug.nl/tabu/2001 ) as it becomes available. A second e-mail
circular containing more information on the conference will be sent
