We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

To the readers: Does anyone know whether there is any family-internal
variation in structure/usage of reduplicative constructions in Algonkian? I'd
be especially interested if the western languages were odd compared with the
rest of the family. Thanks.

Subject: Action nouns
Dear members of the list,
I am looking for bibliographic references to books/papers dealing with the
syntax of action nouns such as "destruction", "discovery" etc., e.g. as in
"the Huns' destruction of the city/the city's destruction by the Huns",
"Colombus' discovery of America/the discovery of America by Colombus".
Please send information to my personal email address: lmfosse at online.no.
I'll be happy to make available a list of the references that I receive for
Linguist.
Best regards,
Lars Martin Fosse
