The local organizers for NAACL 2001 are now accepting applications for
student volunteers. In exchange for their services, volunteers will have
their registration fees for the main conference waived. Student
volunteers are expected to work a minimum of 12 hours, in the form of
three half-day shifts any time during the conference (from 6/2 to 6/7,
depending on availability of volunteer time-slots). This is a great
opportunity to be involved in the organization of the conference and
attend presentations by some of the most prominent names in Computational
Linguistics in North America.

Volunteer duties will be divided in two main categories: audio-visual (AV)
assistants and registration desk assistants. AV work will include helping
with setting up equipment and facilitating microphones for questions from the
audience during presentation sessions (volunteers in this category will be
expected to have some familiarity with AV equipment and laptop computers).
Registration desk volunteers will be working at the registration desk, taking
on-site payments, distributing registration materials, and answering
questions. In addition, good will towards helping with miscellaneous aspects
of the conference will be expected of all volunteers.

In summary:

- You will work 12-15 hours, divided into three shifts.

- You will help with registration, or with AV equipment during presentation
  sessions .

- You will have your main conference student registration fee waived.
That includes a conference proceedings CD-ROM, a conference bag, a
t-shirt, admittance to the reception, coffee and snacks during breaks,
and of course, admittance to all sessions in the main conference (but
  not to workshops or tutorials).

IN ADDITION TO THE MAIN CONFERENCE VOLUNTEERS, we are also in need of AV
assistants for the workshops and tutorials. Workshop/tutorial AV volunteers
will have their fees waived for a particular workshop/tutorial, in exchange
for audio-visual responsibilities at the workshop/tutorial (as described
above). Please note that this is a separate volunteering endeavor from the
main conference. If you would like to obtain free registration to both the
main conference and to a workshop/tutorial, you should volunteer for both
duties (the main conference and ALSO the particular workshop/tutorial).

TO VOLUNTEER, PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING FORM AND SEND BY EMAIL TO:

   sagae+naacl at cs.cmu..edu

Accepted volunteers will receive email confirmation from the organizers.
Volunteer early - slots may fill up fast!
