Subject: Multilingual Corpus Research - 6th TELRI SEMINAR
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Sixth TELRI Seminar with the topic "Multilingual Corpus Research"
Bansko, Bulgaria, 8-11 November 2001
Organisers: TELRI-II (Trans-European Language Resources Infrastructure)
http://www.telri.de/
Local organisers: Linguistic Modelling Department, Bulgarian Academy of
Sciences , Sofia, Bulgaria
The organisers invite the submission of papers for the TELRI seminar, to
be held in the picturesque Bulgarian mountain town Bansko, from 8 - 11
November 2001. The conference organisers will arrange transportation from
Sofia, Bulgaria.
This is the sixth in the series of TELRI seminars, and also the last
seminar held within the framework of the TELRI-II project. With this
years title, "Multilingual Corpus Research", we would like to complete
the circle; starting with the first TELRI Seminar in Tihany, Hungary,
focusing on compiling corpora, to the present seminar where the focus
has shifted to the actual research based on these resources.
The title should not be interpreted to exclude researchers working on
monolingual corpora, but instead should encourage also monolingual
result to be set into a multilingual or contrastive perspective. We would
like to encourage everyone to use the resources gathered within the
TELRI project, especially the PLATO multilingual corpus, available from
the TRACTOR archive http://www.tractor.de .
We invite papers on corpus-based/corpus-driven research including, but
not limited, to the following areas:
- parallel and comparable corpora
- translation equivalence
- contrastive corpus linguistics
- the semantics of corpus linguistics
- corpus software
A detailed abstract of the proposed paper, not exceeding 400 words,
should be sent in electronic form to Louise Matty by June 22, 2001 to
the following e-mail address: MattyLRI at hhs.bham.ac.uk
All papers will be reviewed by the following programme committee:
Franticek Cermak, Prague, The Czech Republic
Ruta Marcinkeviciene, Kaunas, Lithuania
Elena Paskaleva, Sofia, Bulgaria
Anatole Shaikevich, Moscow, Russia
John Sinclair, TWC, Italy
Pernilla Danielsson, Birmingham, UK
Wolfgang Teubert, Birmingham, UK
Authors will be notified whether their papers are accepted or rejected by
15 July 2001. The timeslot given for full presentations is 30 minutes
(including 10 minutes for discussions). Thursday 8 November, will be
devoted to "Ongoing Research", and presentations within these sections
are given 20 minutes (including questions).
The registration fee for the conference is EUR 50/20* for academic
partners, and EUR 100/30* for industrial partners. The * refers to
fees for participants from the CEE/NIS. The second circular will
include detailed information on accommodation options and prices and a
complete list of the keynote speakers.
