Applications are being accepted for a tenure-track position in
Linguistics starting either May 1, 2002 or September 1, 2002. This
position is subject to budgetary approval. Appointment will be made at
the assistant professor rank.
This will be a position in applied linguistics with concentrations in
Greek language and computer assisted language learning. The successful
candidate will have teaching duties in linguistics and applied
linguistics courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The
appointee will be expected to undertake graduate student supervision.
The appointee will also be responsible for Greek language instruction
and will collaborate with the Chair of Hellenic Studies in outreach
programs to the local Greek community and co-operation with agencies
of the Greek Republic. Hellenic Studies and the Department of
Linguistics are developing the capacity for computerized delivery of
Greek language courses and the appointee will participate in the
overall development of these systems.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. with a specialization in applied
linguistics, have experience in teaching Modern Greek, maintain an
active research program in linguistics as it relates to language
teaching and be familiar with recent developments in computer-assisted
language learning.
