We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Does anybody know of any methods for matching syntax trees, with an
appropriate scoring sytem for evaluation and comparison? metrics for
distance functions?

I want to compare translated sentences generated by 2 different systems,
and evaluate their coloseness/measure their distance - on a word,
grammatical clause, and structural level.

Any info greatly appreciated. Please ask if I'm being too vague!

Subject: speech pathology assessment tools for Hispanic population

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist, working on an adult inpatient
brain injury rehabilitation unit. Over the past several years the
number of Spanish-speaking patients we treat has increased
tremendously. I am looking for assessment tools for this population
for evaluation of basic language and of linguistic-cognitive skills
(Spanish with English translations). Any information you have will be
greatly appreciated. I have found a lot of resources for children,
but none for the adult Hispanic brain injury population.

Thank you for your help.
