                            4.2. - 6.2. 2002

There will be a workshop on comparative syntax included in the programme
of the 11th annual meeting of the German Society for Language and
Languages (Gesellschaft für Sprache und Sprachen e.V., GESUS) taking
place at the University of Bratislava in February 2002. For common
information on the conference please check the page:

The conference language will be German, the workshop language will be
mixed (German/ English).

Abstracts in English or German of not more than 300 words should be
submitted before 16.November 2001. We strongly encourage submissions of
papers on syntax in the generative framework, though papers on
comparative syntax in any framework are welcome.

Dear Colleagues,

The journal Language Learning & Techonology
http://llt.msu.edu
is accepting abstracts for a Special Issue on Telecollaboration.

Telecollaboration is defined as the application of global
communication networks within foreign and second language education.

The editors are primarily interested in the following themes:

*  Theoretical research on telecollaborative projects
*  Cross-cultural and cross-linguistic studies of telecollaborative
   partnerships
*  Developmental studies of language learning in telecollaboration
*  Ethnographic investigations of telecollaboration
*  Investigations focusing on differences in internet communication
   tools as used in telecollaborative partnerships, e.g. email
   discussion, chat, knowledge forum/threaded discussion, and
   web-publication
*  Meta-commentaries on organizational aspects of telecollaboration
*  Social and institutional dimensions of telecollaborative partnerships
*  Theoretically-informed dialogues between instructors in
   telecollaborative partnerships
