Nouveaux developpements de l'imparfait / New developments of the
'imparfait' (les vendredi 22 et samedi 23 mars 2002 / Fri.22nd and
Sat.23rd March 2002) - Aston University (Birmingham, GB)
Le tiroir imparfait (IMP) a subi une extension considerable de ses
usages a travers l'histoire du francais. En effet, dans l'ancienne
langue, on retrouvait le passe simple (PS) dans des contextes
aujourd'hui consideres prototypiques de l'IMP, tels que la
description.
L'IMP a acquis progressivement une variete d'emplois, temporels de
concordance (il a dit qu'il venait a deux heures) et "stylistiques"
(par exemple l'hypocoristique : il etait gentil, le toutou a sa
memere ou le forain : qu'est-ce qu'il lui fallait a la p'tite dame
?). Cette forme assume aujourd'hui des roles divers et nouveaux, qui
semblent contredire les descriptions linguistiques traditionnelles ;
on les designe sous des appellations diverses : imparfait de rupture,
imparfait narratif, imparfait pittoresque. Ces extensions d'usage
forcent a reconsiderer les presentations theoriques de l'imparfait,
de meme qu'elles amenent a s'interroger sur les consequences
pedagogiques (en particulier dans la presentation des temps du passe
en FLE) et pratiques (dans la traduction notamment) qui en decoulent.
Ce sont ces questions qui constitueront l'objet de l'atelier projete,
qui en rassemblant un nombre limite de specialistes permettra
d'envisager les reponses possibles.
Nous vous invitons cordialement a soumettre avant le 30 septembre
prochain une proposition de communication, donnant en une page le
titre et le resume de la problematique et de l'analyse consideree.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Linguistics and Phonetics 2002 (LP2002)
Meikai University, Urayasu, Japan
September 2-6, 2002
We are happy to announce that this year's Linguistics and Phonetics
conference (LP2002) will be hosted by Meikai University in Urayasu, Japan
(Urayasu is located in Chiba Prefecture, 20 minutes from Tokyo by train).
LP2002 will be organized around the following three general topics: (1)
Typology and Linguistic Theory, (2) the Lexicon, and (3) Prosody and
Phonetics. The conference will consist of a main session, with 45-, 30-,
and 20-minute talks, and a poster session. We invite anonymous abstracts
for posters and talks (where you may indicate a preference for 45, 30, or
20 minutes) on aspects of linguistics or phonetics that are related to the
topic categories indicated above. The language of the conference is English.
Abstracts should be at most one A4 page, with one-inch margins, typed in at
least 11-point font; a second A4 page, with the same margins and type-size,
is permitted for data and references. Submissions are restricted to 1
individual and 1 joint abstract per author.
ABSTRACTS MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY VIA E-MAIL, using the LP2002
E-mail address <midori34 at meikai.ac.jp>.
Please use the subject header "abstract", and include the abstract in the
body of your message in plain text format (no file attachments please)
followed by the following information: name of author(s), affiliation of
author(s), title of abstract, topic category (choose from 1-3 above),
poster or main session, preferred length of talk if submitting an abstract
for the main session (45, 30, or 20 minutes), mailing & E-mail addresses.
