ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The State University of New York
The Department of Linguistics at the University at Buffalo, seeks to
fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level; the
position will begin September 1, 2002.
We are looking for a specialist in Chinese linguistics to head the
Chinese language program at UB. The successful candidate will have
native or near-native competence in Mandarin Chinese, will have
experience teaching Mandarin to non-native speakers, will have a
Ph.D. in Linguistics or Chinese Linguistics, and should have an
established research program and publications. The exact research
specialization within (Chinese) Linguistics is open.
The primary teaching responsibilities associated with the position are
advanced courses in Mandarin Chinese and courses in Chinese and
general linguistics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Review of applications will begin December, 1, 2001; applications will
be accepted until the position is filled.
