* * CALL FOR PAPERS * *
The Penn Linguistics Club Announces
The 26th Annual Penn Linguistics Colloquium
Friday through Sunday, March 1 through March 3, 2002
At the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia
Invited Speaker: Ivan Sag, Stanford University
Papers on any topic in linguistics and associated fields are
welcome. Speakers will have twenty minutes for their
presentations and five minutes for discussion and questions.
This year's Colloquium will feature a special session on
"Advances in computational methods: Innovations in
theory and analysis". We are soliciting papers describing
computional methodologies in furtherance of more general
linguistic understanding. This includes, but is not limited to,
papers on formal language theory and computational models of
natural data. We are interested in papers from across the
spectrum of theoretical and applied linguistics and related
fields.
Prospective speakers may submit their abstracts by filling out
the online form at
http://wave.ldc.upenn.edu/plc26/index.php4 The form accepts
papers in the DOC, RTF, HTML, PS, DVI, PDF, and TXT
formats. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee correct font
outputs for RTF or DOC. Abstracts should be no longer than
2 pages in 12-point font with 1-inch margins. Please do not
include your name or affiliation on the abstracts themselves.
Abstracts should reach us no later than Sunday, January
13, 2002. Notification of acceptance/rejection should be
expected by February 1, 2002.
In rare cases, we will accept abstracts via regular mail:
The Penn Linguistics Colloquium Committee
Department of Linguistics
619 Williams Hall
University of Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, PA 19104-6305
or via e-mail, as plain text only:
plc26 at ling.upenn.edu
Conference proceedings will be published as a volume of the
Penn Working Papers in Linguistics. Selected participants will
be expected to provide camera-ready copies of their papers after
the Colloquium.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at one of
the above addresses. In addition, the Colloquium's Web page
can be accessed from

ISDA'02 is technically co-sponsored by The World Federation of Soft
Computing (WFSC). ISDA 2002 is the Second International workshop that
brings together international soft computing / artificial intelligence
researchers, developers, practitioners, and users. The aim of ISDA 2002
is to serve as
a forum to present current and future work as well as to exchange research
ideas in this field.
ISDA 2002 invites authors to submit their original and unpublished work
that demonstrate current research in all areas of soft computing
and computational intelligence including design of artificial neural
networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary algorithms, hybrid systems, agents, and
their applications in science, technology, business and commercial.
Paper submission deadline: February 28, 2002
For more details related to topics, venue, accommodation etc please refer
to the workshop web site.
