We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Does anybody know of any studies concerning the disappearance of
WER(E) and GUMA in English and their replacement by MAN?

Dear Fellow-Shawnee Grammarians,
I am interested in contacting those working on Shawnee. I worked
translating Shawnee texts under the guidance of C. F. Voegelin many
years ago and am belatedly returning to my fieldnotes, mostly with
members of the Williams family (Mary, Jean, Robert, etc.) of Little
Axe. Being in the mountains of Taiwan I do not have access to native
speakers and would enjoy sharing information on Shawnee grammar and
translation.
