PANEL DISCUSSION
The September 11 Events
and Beyond
CALL TO ACTION
for interested linguists to do something meaningful
with their disciplinary skills in linguistics
about the events of September 11
The primary purpose of the Plenary Panel session
will be to demonstrate a range of things that some linguists have
thought to do AS LINGUISTS in response to the events of 9.11. Members
of the panel will not present already finished papers on this general
topic. We will, instead, present ourselves as concerned citizens of the
world who feel that the events of 9.11 call for well-reasoned actions.
We want to use this session to invite all LAUD participants to reflect
on how your disciplinary expertise in Linguistics contributes to your
own well-reasoned actions in response to the
events of 9.11.
Panel Coordinators:
Bruce Hawkins
University of Illinois, Normal, Il, U.S.A.
Martin Pütz
