Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo

The Department of English at Aoyama Gakuin University invites
applications for a full-time tenured position in Communication to
begin in April 2003. We invite applications from people with a
specialization in speech communication and rhetorical studies who can
organize speech-related courses. Responsibilities include teaching
classes in these areas of specialization as well as basic English
language courses, and academic committee duties.  Rank is open. Ph.D.
preferred. Native speaker, or high non-native proficiency in Japanese
are required in order to organize speech classes and negotiate with
the university administration about such organization.

Aoyama Gakuin University is a private institution with total
enrollment, undergraduate and graduate combined, of about 20,000. The
Department of English has a reputation for excellence in British and
American Literature, Linguistics and Communication.  There are
currently 34 full-time faculty members in the department.

Applicants should submit 1) a curriculum vitae, 2) a list of scholarly
works, 3) up to 5 samples of recent publications, and 4) two letters
of recommendation to Professor Minoji Akimoto, Chair, Department of
English, Aoyama Gakuin University, 4-4-25, Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
150-8366, JAPAN. Applications should be received by Monday July 1st,
2002.  Unfortunately, it will not be possible to return application
materials to applicants.
