Description:

Mesa State College, a baccalaureate institution in western Colorado,
seeks to complement its six-member Spanish faculty with two new
professors in order to implement a Spanish major in the fall of 2003.

Teach all levels and areas of Spanish, including beginning courses.
Teach four 3-credit hour courses per semester.  Work with Spanish
faculty in implementing the Spanish major.  Organize and take part in
extra-curricular language-enhancing activities.

Required: Ph.D. in Spanish by August 2003; Native or near- native
proficiency in Spanish; Strengths and experience in one or more of the
following areas: Latin American literature and culture; professional
or applied Spanish (in the areas of medicine, business, law, and
social work); Hispanic film and drama; teacher preparation (K-12,
Spanish); organizing and developing foreign language study and travel
programs in Spanish-speaking countries.  Experience in and enthusiasm
for teaching beginning through advanced college-level courses.
Full-time, tenure-track position, beginning August, 2003.  Salary
commensurate with qualifications.  Higher rank possible based on
successful candidate's experience.
