Summary of Responses Received:

This is the summary of responses received to our request for
information and resources on Pennsylvania Dutch English.  Of course,
Pennsylvania Dutch being a misnomer for "Deutsch" (or Pennsylvania
German), many of the responses gave web addresses that address the
history of this issue.  One particularly helpful reference was to
Achim Kopp's book on the phonological characteristics of Pennsylvania
German (available on Amazon.com).  Others gave examples such as "It
wonders me" as specific phrases used by those in Pennsylvania.  For
those of you who referred me to your colleagues with expertise in this
area, thank you so much.  I am still following those leads.  Thanks,
specifically, to Karin Verspoor, Susan Fischer, Clyde Hankey, René
Jansen, Helmer Strik, and Mark Mandel.
