The School of Humanities is one of three schools in the Faculty of
Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Members of the School conduct
research and teach undergraduate and graduate programmes in a range of
disciplines including Classics and Ancient History, European Studies,
French Studies, German Studies, History, Italian Studies, Linguistics
and Philosophy. The School has a strong research and teaching culture.

The appointee to the position will be expected to teach and coordinate
units at all levels of the undergraduate French language, literature
and culture curriculum, to contribute to Honours and postgraduate
level teaching and supervision and to make a strong contribution to
research in French Studies. An ability to contribute to teaching and
research programmes in European Studies and/or other programmes within
the School of Humanities is desirable.
