We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

I'm currently working on a study of orthographic and language
regulation in Czech, and would be grateful for references that deal
explicitly with the mechanisms for regulation in other languages (the
classic example being the Academie francaise). I'll post a summary of
responses to the list.

Dear linguists,

A MA student in our program, who is a Greek, Sanskrit and Latin
scholar, wants to write a thesis on (some aspect of) the comparative
syntax of two of these three languages or, better, the three. We (me
as her future advisor) need all the help we can get regarding
references; any pointers to work done from a formal or any other
perspective on any aspect of the comparative syntax of these languages
will be enormously appreciated. If there is interest, I will post a
summary.

Thank you very much,
