              2nd CALL FOR PAPERS IN JAPANESE LINGUISTICS

     The 10th International Conference of EAJS in Warsaw (Poland)
                           August 27-30, 2003

The tenth international conference of the European Association for
Japanese Studies (EAJS) will be held from August 27 to August 30, 2003
at the University of Warsaw.

Section 2:        JAPANESE LINGUISTICS & LANGUAGE TEACHING
General Topic:    COGNITIVE SEMANTICS*)
Subsections:     (1) Linguistic Theory
                 (2) Computational Processing (NLP, MT)
                 (3) Language Teaching

*) It is possible to propose a lecture with a topic from the outside
of the cognitive paradigm and not exclusively in the field of
semantics but the convenors will have to negotiate the choice of
papers with the future publishers who usually care about the coherent
character of books.

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS: Please send the abstract (between 400-500
characters in English but not more than ONE MS-Word page, Times 12,
with no space between lines) of your contribution by e-mail to both
convenors indicating in which of the 3 subsections you would prefer to
present your paper. In our previous announcement sent by e-mail, due
to a mistype, the deadline for abstracts became 31st December 2002. We
extend therefore this deadline for all. All abstracts should be sent
to both convenors.

ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION: JANUARY 31st, 2003.

++PROGRAMME:

The talks will be 15 minutes long, with 5 minutes for discussion.  A
very limited number of slots will be reserved for longer talks which
are intended for presentations of broader scope. The guest talk will
be delivered by Professor dr IKEHARA Satoru (Tottori University).

++CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:

- PAPERS (final copies) in ENGLISH DUE: After the acceptance of the
abstracts, the participants will have to send their papers before JULY
31, 2003 to both convenors.
- SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: will be announced later.
- MEMBERSHIP FEES : Every participant must pay the membership of the
EAJS (at least for the year of the conference) which is so far 20
EURO.
- SYMPOSIUM FEES: So far, EAJS and Warsaw Centre will make a decision
on the participation fees but, for sake of information, in Finland the
fees were as follows (depending on the time of registration):
        Normal fee: 110 / 145 / 175 EURO
        EAJS-member fee: 80 / 100 / 120 EURO
        Student fee: 45 /55 / 65 EURO

Details on the registration will be announced on the EAJS homepage and
in our next announcement (Call for Participation).

++PUBLICATION: The EAJS will consider the possibility to make a CD-ROM
with the Proceedings of the Conference. The Linguistic Section cannot
be responsible for not selecting the papers for any other publication.
