Description:

The Department of French at Dalhousie University invites applications
for a full-time tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor
(commencing July 1, 2003) in Applied Linguistics, with
subspecialization or demonstrable interest in Computer-Assisted
Language Learning / Multimedia. This position is subject to budgetary
approval.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. or Ph.D. in hand, preferably strong
research programme, teaching experience and background directly
related to teaching responsibilities.  The selected candidate will be
joining a department of French with solid programs in linguistics,
literature and cultural studies, and should thus have a clear and
enthusiastic commitment to working in such a broad context.  Duties
would include teaching beginners', intermediate and advanced language
classes, as well as developing 1st year curriculum using CALL.  The
nature of the courses to be taught requires the candidate to be a
native or near-native speaker of French. The salary will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience.

directly by the referee to the Department, evidence of teaching

candidatures au rang de professeur adjoint pour un poste en
linguistique appliquée. La date d'entrée en fonction sera le 1er
juillet 2003.

Le candidat idéal devra en outre être spécialisé ou avoir un intérêt
démontré dans le domaine de l'enseignement assisté par ordinateur ou
du multimédia.  Ce poste est sujet à l'approbation budgétaire. Les
qualifications requises sont : un doctorat obtenu avant l'entrée en
fonction, un solide dossier de recherche et une expérience pédagogique
directement liée aux charges éventuelles d'enseignement.  Le
département dispose de solides programmes en littérature, en
linguistique et en études culturelles, aussi le candidat retenu
devra-t-il manifester un engagement clair et enthousiaste à travailler
dans un contexte multidisciplinaire.  Entre autres responsabilités, le
candidat enseignera des cours de français aux niveaux débutant,
intermédiaire et avancé, et il élaborera un programme de cours de
première année fondé sur les principes de l'enseignement assisté par
ordinateur. La nature des cours à enseigner exige que le candidat
possède une maîtrise parfaite de la langue française.  Le salaire sera
déterminé en fonction des qualifications et de l'expérience du
candidat.
