The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

Rank of Job: Professor
Specialty Areas Required: Second Language Acquisition, French
Required Language(s): French (Code = FRN)

Description:

The University Charles de Gaulle, at Lille (an hour away from Paris or
Brussels on the TGV, two from London on the Eurostar) is considering
opening a tenured professorship in second language teaching, with a
specialty in French and linguistics.

Before opening the position, we would like to get an idea of whether
there are candidates who might be interested in it, with either a
French or an international background. The successful candidate would
be teaching in the French and the linguistics programs, where French
as a second language is taught from second year to PhD level, and is
expected to collaborate with the foreign students' department and the
Language Center. The University of Lille has a very active CNRS
linguistics research group, SILEX
(http://www.univ-lille3.fr/recherche/silex/), which the candidate
would be invited to join.

Details can be obtained from Professor Anne-Marie Berthonneau,
director of the PhD program in language sciences, to whom a brief CV
should be sent as soon as possible.
