School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences
Lectureship in English Language
Candidates are expected to have a proven research record in the
diachrony of English and/or in synchronic variation (regional, social,
functional) within the language. Their research must be informed by
current phonological and/or syntactic theory. A more general, perhaps
additional, interest in one of the periods in the history of English
will be of advantage.
The successful candidate will participate fully in the department's
teaching at all levels, wherever possible reflecting (but not
necessarily confined to) areas of individual research interest. S/he
will especially contribute to the development and delivery of the
department's postgraduate courses.
Administrative tasks will be undertaken to serve the day-to-day
delivery of the curriculum and especially to foster collaboration with
neighbouring units within the recently-formed School of Philosophy,
Psychology and Language Sciences.
