Description:
The Linguistics Program at Reed College invites applications for a
one-year position in Linguistics at the visiting assistant professor
level for the academic year 2003-04. Reed College is a selective
liberal arts institution with a commitment to teaching excellence and
scholarship.
The appointee will join a small but intense undergraduate linguistics
program and will offer five semester courses over the academic year,
one of which is a co-taught general introduction to the field. The
position also involves supervising yearlong senior thesis projects. A
Ph.D. and teaching and research experience in linguistics are
required.
The range of possible course offerings is open, but we especially
invite applicants with expertise in functional or cognitive
linguistics, in variationist sociolinguistics, in historical or
comparative linguistics, or in the history of linguistics. Please
send a letter describing your teaching and scholarly interests, a
curriculum vitae, a sample of your scholarly work, and have letters of
recommendation sent from three academic referees, to:
