all areas of Romance linguistics are welcome. The presentations will
take thirty minutes, with an additional ten minutes
discussion. Abstracts should be anonymous and no longer than two
pages, including references and examples, with margins of at least
1-inch, letter size 12, single-spaced. Submissions are limited to a
maximum of one individual and one joint abstract per author.
The abstracts should be sent by e-mail (going_romance17 at let.kun.nl) as
a Word or RTF file. If you need to use a phonetic font in your
abstract, please use the SIL doulos 93 fonts, which can be downloaded
for free from http://www.sil.org/computing/fonts/encore-ipa2.html.
Please indicate whether you would like to present your paper during
the general sessions on Thursday or Friday, or during the diachronic
phonology workshop on Saturday. Join separately a file containing:
title, author's name and address, affiliation and e-mail address. All
authors who present their work at the conference will be invited to
submit their paper for the Proceedings.

Pleiades: The Journal of Teaching for Young Learners of English

Pleiades: The Journal of Teaching for Young Learners of English is an
international journal dedicated to the publication of research papers
on Teaching of English to Young Learners. It welcomes: contributions
in all areas of this study of teaching English to young learners;
reviews of literature-related books; conference, book and materials
announcements are also welcome.
Contributions may be submitted from all countries and are accepted all
year round. Pleiades Journal will publish two issues per year, in
Spring and Fall.
Submitting an Article for Publication
To submit an article successfully for consideration in the Journal,
please follow our formatting, policy and submissions guidelines.
A. Formatting
1. All manuscripts must be typed in Microsoft Word (6.0 or above) or
RTF format (or compatible format) and should not exceed 30 pages
single-spaced/50 pages double-spaced in Times New Roman (font size
12).
2. Manuscripts should follow APA formatting guidelines.
3. Articles must be in English, as limitations may make non-English or
non-standard characters and symbols impossible to recognize. Where
another language in the text is necessary, an appropriate translation
or transliteration must be given.
4. All submissions must include your name, title, affiliated
institution, and contact information - both email and a standard
postal address.
B. Content
1. Articles should be researched-based articles that present

be accepted. Authors must assure us that the article has been
exclusively submitted to us.
3. Only one article by an author will be considered for publication in
any one issue.
C. Submissions Details
1. Paper or print submissions will not be accepted. All submissions
should be either as an email attachment or as a file on diskette or
CD-ROM. Articles submitted in other formats may be returned to authors
for resubmission.
2. Receipt of any article for consideration of publication does not
imply that publication is guaranteed. The editors reserve the right to
reject articles for reasons of content, length, presentation,
appropriacy, etc.
3. The editors also make no guarantee that: a. authors will be
notified in due time of an article's rejection; and b. an article will
be published by a certain deadline.
D. Deadlines for Submissions
1. Spring Issue: 1st February; and Fall Issue: 1st August.
2. Articles received after these dates will be considered for the
subsequent issue. Review Procedures for Submitted Papers
1. All information other than the author's initials will be removed
BEFORE the review process begins.
2. All papers submitted to Pleiades Journal are posted online for
public review where our readers are welcome to post their responses in
an online dialogue with the author.
3. These public comments and the opinions of the Editors will
determine whether or not the article is submitted for review to the
Review Board. The Review Board will assess whether a paper is suitable
for publication in the Pleiades Journal. 4. Papers will remain
available for public comment for six months after initial posting, or
until either the author requests removal or the article is accepted
for publication.
5. Submissions will be returned to their authors for revision, after
which the Editors will determine whether or not the article meets the
criteria for publication.
6. Once reviewed, the papers will receive one of the following
categories:
category action: the paper will be
accept ... published more or less as is.
accept and revise ... accepted once requested changes are made.
revise and resubmit ... accepted once requested changes are made for
review.
reject ... returned to the author.
Publication
1.The first of the twice-yearly issues of Pleiades Journal will be
available, conditions permitting, in 2004, as the Spring issue.
2.The second of the twice-yearly issues of Pleiades Journal will be
available, conditions permitting, in 2004, as the Autumn issue.
3.The current issue of Pleiades Journal will be available for sale to
institutional and individual subscribers.
4.With the release of each subsequent issue, the previous issue will
become available and archived on-line to registered readers.
5. Author(s) will receive five copies of the journal issue when the
