COMPUTATIONAL LINGUIST
Information technology start-up, based in Montreal, Canada, seeks top
computational linguist with C++ programming experience.
Candidate will be part of an R&D team of 6 specialists responsible for
developing advanced information retrieval technology based on sense
disambiguation over unstructured text.
Responsibilities:
Candidate will develop sense disambiguation technology to support
information retrieval, and will initially be responsible for:
-Designing, building and testing components for fine and coarse
sense disambiguation based on semantic constraints;
-Developing linguistic components for parsing, named entity
recognition and boundary detection;
-Developing and testing techniques for semantically expanding queries
to improve precision and recall using a semantically enhanced index;
-Developing and experimenting with techniques for unsupervised
acquisition of compound and collocation frames.
Candidate Qualifications and Characteristics:
-Post-graduate computational linguistics degree, with record of
academic excellence
-Experience with the application of machine learning techniques to
linguistic problems
-2+ years practical experience designing and programming complex
systems in C++ in a commercial R&D environment
-History of superior creativity and performance
