The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.
Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.
This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

Associate Director, Communication Within the Curriculum

The College has integrated instruction in oral communication into its
undergraduate curriculum through a program called Communication Within
the Curriculum (CWiC). CWiC trains undergraduate speaking advisors to
consult with their peers on oral communication assignments in courses
across the disciplines. As an "across-the-curriculum" program, CWiC
seeks to make speaking assignments an integral part of learning course
content in many fields. The program also maintains a speaking center
with office hours, where students may seek help with any speaking
activity, and non-credit workshops on a range of oral communication
topics.
The associate director will manage and continue to develop all aspects
of the program including: managing personnel (including student
advisors and support staff) and the program's budget, consulting with
faculty on how to integrate oral assignments into their courses,
teaching student and faculty workshops and supporting a culture of
conversation and inquiry at Penn through collaborations with other
on-campus organizations. The associate director will also teach a
credit bearing course on persuasive speaking and peer advising to
train speaking advisors.
