Subject:  Degrees in Logic Language & Computation, King's

The newly created Group of Logic, Language, and Computation, based in
the Department of Computer Science of King's College London, offers
MSc and advanced BSc courses in computational logic and computational
linguistics. These courses provide students with an understanding of
recent developments in both fields and the relationship between
them. Members of the Group also supervise PhD research.

The MSc in Logic, Language and Computation reflects the intimate
connection between logic and natural language processing/computational
linguistics in current research, allowing students wide scope to
explore these connections.  It provides a framework for focusing the
research and teaching strengths of the Group of Logic, Language and

Scholarships for MSc work are not generally available.

We also welcome applications from students with a strong academic
record for the MPhil or PhD degrees.  These degrees require the
student to undertake original research under the supervision of one or
more members of academic staff.  Applications for the MPhil or PhD are

Announcing a new web-based mentoring service for women in linguistics

Women in Linguistics Mentoring Alliance (WILMA)

A project of the Committee on the Status of Women in Linguistics and
the Linguistic Society of America

Funded by the Advance Program of the National Science Foundation

What Is WILMA?

WILMA is a website through which women in linguistics and closely
related fields can find a mentor or mentee for a one-on-one mentoring
partnership, or join a group of women with similar concerns who agree
to function as a co-mentoring or support group. You may elect to be
both a mentor and a mentee, and you may also choose to participate in
one or more co-mentoring groups. The site is managed on a volunteer
basis by three women in linguistics and is designed to be entirely
self-service.

How Do I Join WILMA?

To sign up, you will need to complete a brief online questionnaire
about your professional situation and current mentoring needs and
preferences. You will choose a password and can then log in to have
access to postings by other women seeking individual as well as group
mentoring arrangements. Your own information will also be posted on
the site for other registered users to read.
