The Continuing Saga of Percival - The LINGUIST List Cat
Percival, The LINGUIST List cat is still gallivanting around the
globe, while here in Michigan it is madness without him - he is the
brains behind all that we do.
Read the latest postcard that he has sent us below, or read and see
the photos at:
http://linguistlist.org/percy.html
********************************************************************
Part 4. Jumping Through Hoops in Burma
Min ga lar bar!
Percival here. How's life in good ol' Michigan - I hear that you are
finally getting some sun! You'll never guess where I am - that's
right, Lake Inle in Burma. And wow, is this a cool place for a cat to
be!
I've made some really good friend at the Nga Phe Kyaung (the Jumping
Cat Monastery) and I certainly am at one with myself after learning
some new meditation techniques. Of course many people think that I'm
just sleeping, but let me tell you that I can now project my inner
being for miles and miles and I know exactly what you've been up
to. That detective of yours has no chance!
As you can see from the photo, they sure make you do some funny things
to earn your daily food around here, but it hasn't been a problem - my
time with the circus taught me a thing or two and I impressed everyone
with a triple back-flip somersault that has yet to be beaten. The
monks have given me a lovely cat cushion all to myself.
Well, must get some sleep now, it's been a hectic day and I'm
exhausted with all the jumping and spinning. So I guess it's dhwar do
mai for now, and I'll see you soon - but not too soon
Percy.
*********************************************************************
Please help us get Percival back - we just cannot cope without him!

We miss you percy!

Subject: How to Donate and the LINGUIST List Hall of Fame
This year we hope to raise $50,000 to support the students who work on
LINGUIST List and keep the list running. Thank you from all the crew
for your support.
The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University
and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is
a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number
is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and
sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more
information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching scheme, such that they will
match any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this
entails your contacting your human resources department and sending us
a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer.
This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the
value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra
penny. Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a
scheme.
HOW TO DONATE
You can make a contribution by selecting one of three convenient
payment methods: secure credit card form, check, or wire transfer.
You can also PLEDGE your support to LINGUIST and pay later, i.e. send
in a check. Also, if you do not want to use a credit card, but wish to
pay in a currency other than US Dollars, you can donate via our
European bank account held in Switzerland. See below for details:
