We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Hi,

I am a scholar at the University of Florence - Italy - Faculty of
Education, Anthropology.

I am writing to enquire if you would be able to give me some
information for my new research field, about studies and publications
regarding Guarani people - formerly called 'Chiriguanos' - living in
the Bolivian Chaco, South-east Bolivia.

I am especially interested in linguistic anthropological studies,
regarding the varieties Ava and IzoceF1o or other varieties spoken in
the area, but also information about recent ethnographic and/or
linguistic studies would be of great interest.

Any guidance from you would be deeply appreciated. I look forward to
your response. Thank you very much in advance.

With my best wishes,

sincerely

Silvia Lelli

Dear linguists,

May I get your opinion on sub-classifying Intransitive Verb into two
main categories of: a. verbs that do not require objective noun as it
is already semantically contained in the verb itself, e.g. active
intransitives such as 'walk = do the walking' and 'sing = sing a song'
b. verbs that do not require objective noun as the verb stands alone
syntactically, e.g. linking verbs and stative verbs such as 'seem' and
'be'?

I wil post the summary as soon as I accumulate enough opinions.
