Research Assistantship: Alaska Native Language Center
The Alaska Native Language Center has available a graduate research
assistantship for work with the ANLC Archives Project. Remuneration is
in the amount of $11.50/hour plus tuition and fees. Position is funded
from September 1, 2003 through August 31, 2005. Research assistants
are employed for 20 hours/week over the 9-month academic year and
full-time during the summer.
Duties:
Original and copy cataloguing using electronic database; shelf
checking; identifying materials needing preservation; copying,
foldering, boxing, labeling and other basic preservation activities;
identifying and organizing ANLC publications
Qualifications:
Library training and/or experience preferred; knowledge of or
familiarity with Alaska Native Languages preferred. Ability to work
with computers, including data entry, database manipulation,
generation of different data formats as needed; general organizational
and office skills, such as typing, filing, copying, and keeping track
of documents; ability to work independently, to scan documents for the
purpose of summarizing content, to determine what documents and
folders need special preservation steps taken, and to request
additional information from appropriate ANLC staff.
