I do not want add confusion to the excellent "nutshell", but isn't it
fascinating that in a language like Sanskrit, the same concept is
referred to in three different genders? To illustarte, Daaraah in
masculine plural, patni in feminine singular and kalatram in neuter
singular all refer to "wife'!.Is the so called grammatical gender also
semantic in the final analysis or is it the individual history of
words which determine the gender there?
