The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

LANGUAGE-MIGRATION-GLOBALIZATION
Courses in English at Malmö University's School of International
Migration and Ethnic Relations (IMER) are primarily concerned with the
critical study of language as an expression of self and society, and
literature as individual and cultural expression. These are important
components in the broader field of 'communication', which is studied
in the context of migration and globalization, and the mulitcultural
and multilingual society in which we exist.

Students first learn the essential tools of linguistic and literary
analysis and then go on to apply their knowledge, gaining a better
understanding of how power structures and cultural values are created
and perpetuated through language and literature.

The appointed candidate will be expected to contribute to the School's
multidisciplinary approach to these key issues.
