The history of serious efforts in this technological niche date to
at least the mid-70s when were being marketed to self-help, business
and eductaional users.
I thought it would be interesting to know how far back in
the use of audiotape and also in disk or even cylinder recording
there might have been other attempts to alter the speed of sound
delivery. Any ideas?
There are also some spoofs of this technology in film, record and
television comedic pieces. For example faluts in the cylindar recorder
in 'My Fair Lady' and the techniques used in records like the
Alvin the Chipmunk series.
