Papers, Colloquia, and Posters are invited on topics including (but
not limited to):

Abstracts submitted must represent original, unpublished research and
should follow the guidelines below.

Submission Guidelines:

Individual Papers should be 20 minutes long with an additional 10
minutes for discussion.

Posters are for one-on-one discussion of work in progress. Posters are
especially effective for presenting data visually (in charts, graphs,
or tables). Narrative discussion is best presented in bullet format. A
block of time will be designated when presenters are available to
discuss their posters. Upon acceptance, presenters will receive
guidelines for their posters.

For a Poster or a Paper, send a copy of an abstract, no more than 250
words long, typed on a single page. On a separate page, place the
submitter's name, address, institutional affiliation, phone and fax
numbers, and e-mail address.

Colloquium Proposals are invited for 1 Â½ hour blocks. Colloquium
organizers may divide their time as they choose, but time should be
allocated for opening and closing remarks, presentations, discussants
(if included) and extended audience response. Colloquium organizers
serve as the liaison between participants in their colloquium and the
Site Committee, and are responsible for communication among these
participants. A colloquium proposal abstract should include the
following: - One copy of a single page statement from the organizer
explaining the theme of the colloquium, how the individual
presentations relate to one another, and how the time will be
allocated. Include organizer's name, institutional affiliation,
address, phone and fax numbers, and e-mail address in the upper
left-hand corner.  - One copy of a 250 word abstract typed on a single
page for each individual presentation. In the upper left-hand corner
place the presenter's name, institutional affiliation, address, phone
and fax numbers, and e-mail address.

Proposal abstracts can be submitted by mailing in the information or
by sending as a Word attachment via e-mail (see addresses below). For

Graduate student conference in French, Italian and Romance
Linguistics, and French and Italian Literature The University of Texas
at Austin French and Italian Graduate Student Organization presents
our first annual graduate student conference, the FIGS conference, to
be held 27 and 28 February 2004 in Austin, TX.

We welcome the submission of abstracts, in English or in French, on
any topic in the fields of French, Italian and Romance Linguistics,
and French and Italian literary studies.  Submissions from students
currently enrolled in a graduate program will receive preference.

Please submit a 300-word abstract with your name, school affiliation
and contact information (including e-mail) on a separate page, c/o
Elizabeth Strong, to:
