Description:
Information scientist required to actively promote and conduct
research leading to the development of semantic computing environments
and applications. The results of this research will lead to computing
applications in intelligent systems, knowledge engineering, semantic
web, knowledge based systems, web services, and intelligent systems.
Minimum Requirements: **
Level 3: A PhD in Computer Science or Masters (in C.S.) with at least
3 years experience. Evidence of current research in areas compatible
with the job description is required.
The applicant must demonstrate the ability to conduct applied
research, interact with clients, prepare research proposals, and help
generate guidelines for future research directions. A successful
applicant will possess a strong understanding of the current state of
research related to semantic computing and will have personal interest
in pursuing a related research program. An understanding of some of
the current technologies for creating semantic computing environments
is required- SOAP, XML, RDF, OWL, kif, FOLP. Experience designing
software for java and J2EE environments is highly desireable.
This position requires excellent oral and written communication
skills, the ability to lead interdisciplinary teams, and a strong
orientation toward advancing the state of the computer science.
Ability to obtain a future DOE ''Q'' security clearance or DoD ''TOP
SECRET'' clearance is required.
**Must meet minimum requirements to receive further consideration.
Desirable Characteristics:
The ideal applicant is a highly creative, visionary researcher
possessing an knowledge of traditional information systems and an
understanding of how to exploit that knowledge to create semantic
computing environments. The person should enjoy all aspects of
computer science, from basic research to system design to writing
code.
