Description:
The Department of Linguistics, Memorial University of Newfoundland
invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of
Assistant Professor, effective 1 July 2004, subject to budgetary
approval.
The position requires a completed Ph.D. in Linguistics with a primary
specialization in syntactic theory and a secondary specialization in
either language variation (synchronic or diachronic) and language
contact or in language acquisition and/or language
disorders. Expertise in an Aboriginal language of the North Atlantic
region would be an asset. The successful candidate will teach
undergraduate and graduate courses in syntax and other courses
appropriate to specializations offered, as well as supervise graduate
students.
Applications should include a current curriculum vitae, a teaching
dossier, the names of three persons who can supply a letter of
reference, and any supporting documents, including evidence of
