We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Subject: Request: Information on African Text-To-Speech literatures

Dear listers,

I am looking for literatures on African Text-To-Speech (TTS) related
research. There seems to have been no substantial work on African
Text-To-Speech (TTS) research. Friends of mine from the Speech
processing field also have not come across such literature. However,
I would like to confirm this by querying other researchers if they
have come across such work.

The African language that I am particular interested in is Yoruba,
which belongs to the Niger-Congo language family (according to
Ethnologue.com). However, I'd appreciate any literature on developing
African TTS.

If you have any information on this, I would be grateful
if you would let me know.

Yours sincerely,
Sylvia
