Description:
The Court Interpreter Program exists to fulfill the state court
system's obligation to provide qualified interpreters for all court
proceedings where participants have limited English oral communication
skills (including deaf and hard of hearing individuals). The Court
Interpreter Program Coordinator is an engaging and challenging
position that works to establish and implement statewide policies and
procedures regarding the best use of interpreters in the state court
system. This position works within the State Court Administrator's
Office Court Services Division.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, rules, guidelines and
best practices for the state court system regarding court
interpreters.
- Oversee and support maintenance of roster of qualified and certified
interpreters.
- Establish, implement, monitor and enforce requirements for court
interpreters.
- Research issues and manage special projects related to court
interpreters.
- Administer the budget and coordinate the office of the Court
Interpreter Program.
- Supervise and / or give work direction to a small group of
professional and / or administrative staff.
- Support, collaborate with and oversee efforts of the State Court
Administrator's Office Education and Organizational Development
Division to (1) educate judges, lawyers and court administrators
regarding court interpreters; and (2) develop and administer
interpreter training programs and tests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA degree with major coursework in public administration, social
science, public affairs, criminal justice, sociology or related area
required. Masters or comparable degree desired.
- Minimum two years program development/project management experience.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Ability to
train, assign work, supervise and evaluate the work of staff in a
manner conducive to high morale and productivity.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of structure and operations of courts, and court
administration issues desired.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with
division staff, subordinates, judges, court administrators,
interpreters and program stakeholder groups.
- Familiarity with immigrant, non-English speaking or Deaf/Hard of
Hearing populations and issues, and bilingualism and
interpreting/translating experience a plus.
SALARY RANGE & BENEFITS: $43,827-$67,923 annually
($20.99-$32.53/HR). Starting salary depending upon
