Description:

SVOX AG is a dynamic technology company specialized in text-to-speech. We are
seeking to add a TTS specialist to our development team, who will be responsible
for developing and maintaining the SVOX text analysis components in multiple
languages. You will develop grammars and lexica for use with our
state-of-the-art text-to-speech engine, lead the efforts of other language
specialists, and drive innovations in our language development process. SVOX
provides a varied, full-time position in an international, fast-paced,
results-oriented environment.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Hands-on technical leader for SVOX text analysis, with both development
   skills/responsibilities and team mentoring roles
- Tracking and analysis of customer requirements
- Developing, testing, releasing, and maintaining new language-specific
   components needed to analyze texts (including definite clause grammars,
   lexica, finite state transducers)
- Version control of text analysis components
- Driving innovations, especially in automation of the development and testing
   of text analysis components
- Testing and integrating new development tools
- Documentation and reporting of progress
- Interfacing within engineering and with sales
- Build-up of language knowledge

Qualifications and required Skills:
- Higher education degree in linguistics and 3+ years of experience with
   programming, or alternatively a degree in computer science or electrical
   engineering and 5+ years experience in linguistics
- Experience in text-to-speech technology is a definite plus
- Very strong interest in text normalization, morpho-syntactic analysis, phonetics,
   and building of working systems based on a solid theoretical principles
- Confident use of scripting languages (Tcl/Tk, Perl, others), and programming in C
- Experience in configuration management
- Native speaker of English, French, or Italian. High expertise in the other two
   languages. Highly motivated to learn additional languages.
- Expertise in additional languages a plus
- Results-oriented, pragmatic approach to solving problems
- Excellent trouble-shooting skills
- Project management, especially the ability to create schedules and judge
   schedule impacts
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- High comfort level interacting with linguists, software engineers, and sales
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a larger team
- Willingness to relocate to Zurich, Switzerland
